The problems with the Government Dietary Guidelines according to the American Dietary Association -
Cooking Skills: ADA is pleased to see the emphasis on helping consumers improve cooking skills. However, many consumers do not have the time or inclination to cook from scratch, using little added salt, sugar or fat and avoiding processed ingredients, and they will need significant nutrition education to learn these skills. Cooking with less sugar and salt will change product outcomes given the properties of these additives and their role in food quality. Consumers will need new recipes and nutrition information to meet the recommendations. Additionally, many factors can contribute to an individual’s understanding of nutrition and healthful eating habits. Cooking skills are important but an overall investment in nutrition and health literacy is critical.
Translation/Implementation: Since these guidelines differ noticeably from the actual consumption patterns of the U.S. population, translation is going to be key. When translating this report into the Dietary Guidelines and into the public sphere, the message of gradual, small changes in a positive direction will need to be emphasized. Very simple, very practical ideas and suggestions are necessary for most consumers to motivate them to utilize the guidelines to achieve a more nutritious diet. Investment is needed in innovative nutrition education and promotion across the lifespan to give individuals and families the knowledge and skills to navigate a challenging food environment.

Seriously - I used to look at all the pills my grandparents took and wondered how on earth I would ever be able to afford getting old. Being dependent on others and spending all of my money on prescription drugs scares the crap out me. How about you?
And I noticed that all of these horrific health problems really started escalating when people started eating all of the garbage fake foods. These foods are nothing but chemical concoctions with no nutrient value. No wonder everyone is getting fatter and sicker.
My best friend has asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and has had a whole host of health problems.
A friend of the family died of a massive stroke at age 47. She also was overweight and suffered from asthma, diabetes, and heart disease.
My daughter was a micro-preemie and is susceptible to respiratory problems.
I could go on and on about why I'm so fanatical about this.
But the thing I never could understand is why everyone is eating this stuff. It tastes really bad. You'll see once you start eating good food!
