Moody Teens? Their diet explains everything
Does your teen have major mood swings, or seems to be always depressed? This was in a recent article over at Yahoo,
“Teens eat diets with bad-mood foods including lots of sweets and starches. That does dramatic things to blood sugar levels that shoot up and down. It wrecks havoc with mood,” she said. (article here)
Think about it. Add to that the fact that they’re not getting the nutrients they need and hormones are swinging out of control and you have a mess on your hands.
As a parent, there are some things you can do to control the chaos and make life easier for all of you -
Do your best to get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables into them a day.
You know they’re going to be eating fast food when they’re out with their friends. Make sure they are getting fresh real foods at home.
Lead by example.
I’ve always made it a point to make it very clear to my daughter that a healthy diet is important, and why. We talk about corn syrup, fast foods, GMOs, and making the best food choices. I eat well, serve freshly made foods, get exercise, and you know – lead by example.
We’re not saints by any means. But when you eat healthy most of the time, the occasional splurge isn’t that bad.
Teaching your kids to eat healthy is one of the greatest things you can do as a parent.
