True Winter Preparedness
No, its not the car or the furnace. Yes those are important, but everyone seems to forget about getting your body prepared.
The weather is changing – unless you live in LA I guess… Some people are already dealing with wet heavy snow. You might have noticed more sniffles going on at work. More people out sick
It’s time to get serious about keeping our bodies strong and healthy to withstand the rigors of winter.
The best thing you can do is build your immune system now. Read More …
The first loaves of pumpkin bread
I just took the first loaves of pumpkin bread out of the oven.
They’re just OK.
What happened?
I bought pumpkins at the grocery store.
I have to get my butt out to a pumpkin farm this weekend and get the good stuff.
In the meantime, I’ll pawn these off on the girls at work
Tomorrow night I’ll be making broccoli salad for the pot-luck lunch at work on Friday.
Sneaky Durbin is at it again
Ah yes. I live in Illinois. The land of crooked politicians. And Senator Durbin is really pissing me off. From the so called ‘food safety’ to the supplement labeling – he is determined to cut our access to healthy foods and vitamins.
I can’t wait until we finally find out out much he is being paid by Monsanto, Big Pharma, and Big Agri. Maybe Monsanto has promised him a big cushy job when he loses the next election. But if he gets any of this crap passed that will be too late for us.
Never have I seen a public servant exercise such disdain for his constituents. OK, maybe that’s not true. George Ryan was a real creep.
One thing I’ll give Durbin. He is tenacious. If he can’t get one bill passed, attach it to an appropriations bill where no one will notice and vote on it during a holiday – at night.
In today’s release from the Alliance for Natural Health they reported -
Since he’s having trouble getting his own bill passed, he’s trying a different approach to get the same results. New Action Alert!
For weeks we have been telling you about Sen. Dick Durbin’s disastrous Dietary Supplement Labeling Act, which attempts to impose harsh limits on supplement availability by giving the FDA major new powers to make arbitrary standards and rules that will curtail supplement sales. Stick a kid, win an iPad
Walgreens employees are being pushed, prodded, and incentivized to push vaccines.
Most retail stores push credit cards..
Seems people aren’t as willing to rush in and be human test subjects anymore. Vaccine selling is a hard job. People aren’t quite as gullible as they used to be.
But employees who are up for the challenge can win an iPad.

The revolving door
There’s a continual flow between government positions and Monsanto. Another one happened just recently.
Circuit Court Judge Patrick J. Fiedler Dane County (Wisconsin) Circuit Court Judge Patrick J. Fiedler’s ruled against the property rights of cow owners and their right to consume raw milk from their own cows earlier this year.
He now works for a prestigious law firm that defends Monsanto.
Rewards for a job well done?
Happens all the time.

eating my way around the world
I’ve been getting tired of the same old same old stuff I’ve been eating simply because I tell myself I’m too tired to cook after working 10 or 11 hours a day.
OK, I really am too tired to cook, but I’m too tired not to cook. I can’t afford to let my immune system down. So I cook. For the last few weeks its been a piece of meat and a salad. That’s good to a point, but gee wiz…
So I’ve started breaking out some of my favorite recipes -
Chicken with zucchini and tomatoes
Sweet and Sour Chicken – that was heaven!
Jambalaya for tomorrow!
Makes me think of that old Lean Cuisine commercial where the girl is talking about the great dinner she ate last night. Except mine is way better than anything you can get in a package
So how do you manage to make great meals after working a long long day?
Planning.
I’ve started cooking up a couple of extra chicken breasts on Sunday. Then I can make all kinds of things during the week. Make sure to have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on hand and you can make all kinds of creations.
Of course, having hundreds of quick, easy delicious recipes on hand doesn’t hurt either, does it?
Are you using them? I sure am!

Why Pink Stinks
Here it comes – pink ribbons, bracelets, pins, t-shirts. Companies are raking in big profits on all things pink. And only a pittance, if any – goes to anything related to breast cancer. It mostly goes to the company bottom line. Pink is a huge profit center.
I hear it everyday – “I’m doing this because my (friend, mother, sister, principal, etc) had breast cancer.”
How does spending billions of dollars on pink symbols help anyone survive breast cancer? It doesn’t. Its all just another money making sucker punch.
As a matter of fact, the breast cancer industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.
Do you really want to do something meaningful? It’s time to Pink Differently…
How about if we quit doing the things that cause breast cancer in the first place?
How about if we quit eating foods that encourage the breakdown of our bodies?
How about if we quit supporting all of the products that lead to poor health?
How about if we supported our health every day making it harder for cancer to invade your body?
How about if we focused on eating foods that protect your body from cancer?
Did you ever wonder why breast cancer is so prevalent now, yet 50 years ago it hardly existed?
What happened?
In the case of breast cancer, its hormones and hormone mimicking substances. Everyday people are being loaded with female estrogen from soy, plastics, and the hormones in commercial animal products.
The biggest offenders?
Almost all packaged foods. Try finding one that doesn’t contain soy.
And the biggest commercial chicken producers. I’ve said it before – a chicken doesn’t naturally have bigger breasts than you. You think you’re getting a great deal when you get that package of huge chicken breasts for a song, don’t you?
Microwaving in plastic releases even more estrogen mimicking chemicals.
Cancer feeds on sugar. You might think that you don’t eat many sweets, but like soy, there is sugar in almost every packaged food. Its hidden under a bunch of different names – corn syrup, fructose, and dextrose, to name a few. Heck, even tomato soup is sweet now.
If you value your breasts, don’t touch these menaces with a ten foot pole – and start getting more broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts into your diet. Cruciferous vegetables help your body dispose of excess estrogen.
Cut as many chemicals out of your diet as possible. Try some new delicious and easy recipes. The best way to really know what’s in your food is to make it yourself.
Eat more of the foods that make it harder for cancer to survive in your body.
Instead of buying pink t-shirts – buy broccoli and organic chicken. It will go a lot farther in preventing breast cancer than the latest pink products.
