How the fittest survive

There’s just no way to sugar coat it – it’s been one tough week.

Oh, you think you had it bad with all the snow and all?

For me, it was the first week of a new full time job, getting used to getting up at 5AM, getting used to being gone almost 10 hrs. a day, learning a bunch of new stuff, the roads have been crappy all week, spending a day digging out, and a list of pretty important things I need to do that I haven’t been able to get to. Oh, and its pot luck day at work tomorrow!

I’ve had a lot of adapting to do in one week.

What’s the first thing people usually shortcut during times like these?

Cooking, right?

The first thing people do is head for the drive-thru lanes and instant food aisles.

If you think about it, that’s crazy. During times like these, you need your health and energy more than ever! It should be a priority to eat healthy.

Now, I have to admit – after spending 6 hours out in the cold shoveling snow, I was exhausted and grabbed whatever was available quick. But in my case, I had leftover lasagna, a meatball, spaghetti sauce, a chicken breast, and a bag of spinach. It was easy for me to grab some good food fast.

I bought a pineapple and some grapes to take tomorrow. While I was at the store, I bought spaghetti sauce supplies because that’s always a good cheap handy thing. I still have the chicken breast to make some sort of creation tomorrow.

Half the battle is having good stuff in the house.

Hey – If I can do it – so can you. I don’t have magic powers or 26 hours a day either ;-)

When Man Plays God

The USDA decided to not regulate GMO alfalfa. Now most of us here don’t really care and wouldn’t touch alfalfa with a ten foot pole.

What’s disturbing about all of this is that they are aware of the problems that GMOs are causing.

GMO crops are actually more susceptible to disease and are dying prematurely.

Real seeds that have not been genetically altered are harder and harder to come by.

Health problems and allergies are being connected to GMO foods.

GMO crops are invading non-GMO crops. Seeds and pollen are not bound by property lines.

On the surface, it may not seem all that bad…

But consider that the time is coming where there will not be a lick of real food to be had. You know, the stuff that God gave us to eat. The stuff that provides the nutrients that our bodies need to run right. Imagine all of it – gone.

Now add that the same methods that are supposed to make crops cheaper and more abundant are actually killing off crops.

So, not only will real food be gone, but the genetically modified crops are dying off too. And they have affected the soil, so even if you had real seeds, they probably won’t be able to grow.

And lets not forget the residual affects of pesticides and other chemicals in our bodies.

Personally, I think its time we hoard every heritage seed we can get our hands on before it becomes illegal. Don’t kid yourself, it will be illegal. Monsanto owns the US government.

If you’re a Christian, this is where the famines, dependence on the government, and the mark will all come into play.

If you believe in the Aztec or Mayan teachings – the world will end in 2012.

Others are talking about leaving the country. Not that it would do any good if the world is ending…

No matter how you look at it – things are not pretty. People better wake up and get out of this trance they’re in.

The late Jack LaLanne said, “If man made it, don’t eat it.”

Can you protect your family? Can you have an impact?

Be concsious about what you’re putting on your plate!

Its easy to get thin

I was just listening to a ‘motivational’ speaker. He was talking about people who want to lose weight.

He said, “We all know how to lose weight – you eat fewer calories and get more exercise. There, you have it. You never have to buy another diet book.”

While that makes perfect common sense, and may have been true 30, 40 years ago – its not true today. You already know that, right?

Today, there are so many chemicals in our foods that our bodies cannot not process them.

So, eat real food, eat less, exercise more.

Now you have it. You never have to buy another diet book ;-)

Have a great weekend!

I’m so sick

I always used to say that when I do get sick, I get really, really sick. That is true today. Its just a bad cold, but man is it miserable. I’ve had the chills on and off for days. I can’t get warm – and you wouldn’t believe it if you saw all the layers I’ve been under the entire day today.

Oh, I can hear you now – “You’re sick when you’re always telling us how not to get sick?”

Well, there is a lesson here for me and for you.

I don’t care how many years you have lived healthy – the minute you start slacking off, you open the door.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Money is tight.

You cut back on certain foods, or juices.

You cut back on vitamins.

You’re burning the candle at both ends trying to ‘fix’ things.

You are buried in stress.

You’re not getting enough sleep, exercise, or recreation…

Well, like any human being, I have been guilty of falling into these traps, and I’m paying dearly in lost time and productivity.

Whenever you’re tempted to think that it costs too much to take care of yourself – consider what it will cost if you get sick.

Its a lesson I won’t be ignoring.

Well, Wiki-Leaks has uncovered yet more incidious information – and this time about the world wide GMO mafia. Watch it now. I guarantee it will disappear soon.

I can’t decide whether to be angry or sad. Unless more people start raising their voices, it will be done.

Too Cute

I like Sesame Street. My daughter always hated it.

I thought this little video with Elmo at the White House Kitchen was too cute. What do you think?
