One Bad Day of Eating
Yesterday was one of those days. I was scheduled to work just a few hours at the spa, so I ate a filling lunch – finishing off the pasta and beans, and figured I could eat a light dinner when I got home.
Unbenounced to me, my schedule had been changed. I was working until close. Nice of them to let me know, right?
I didn’t bring anything to eat. Fortunately (or not), there was gelato and chocolate cake there. I have to eat every few hours. My metabolism is trained to burn food practically as quickly as I eat it. If you’re following the quick start guide, you are training your body to do the same.
So that’s what I had for dinner – chocolate cake and gelato.
When I got home at 10 PM, the dog needed to be walked, and I was starving. Of course I would be – the dinner I had provided no nutrients – just empty calories.
By the time I walked the dog it was almost 11. Sorry, even the most saintly are not likely to start making a healthy dinner at that point. I had some pepperoni Texas Toast that had been languishing in the freezer.
I ate 2 pieces.
Not enough. Ate 2 more pieces.
Within minutes, I was falling asleep at the computer trying to make it through my emails. I was hot and uncomfortable. Yes, there is a connection between diet and hot flashes…
OK, if I get some sleep, that will be the end of this, right? Wrong.
When I got up, I had absoutely no energy. I’m dragging and sluggish. I can’t concentrate.
The point is – the food you eat affects you more than you may realize. The food you eat can heal you, or make you very, very sick. And it happens quickly.
I’m going to go eat some fruit and yogurt and see if I can get myself motivated. I can’t afford days like this! Can you?
