Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

- Image via Wikipedia
One of the things that I love about the holidays is that most people make real food. Oh sure, the choices have more fat than we should eat on a regular basis, but it’s better for you than what most people eat the rest of the year! Just eat reasonably.
Enjoy the great food, great friends and family. Stay warm. Drive Safe. Don’t drink and drive. And remember the real reason for the season.
The Monsanto Protection Bill passed – lets get on with life

I am so disappointed in our leadership now.
What I don’t understand is on one hand you have Michelle Obama fighting to get kids to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, at the same time the government is making real food less available.
It has passed, and we just have to get on with life and eat the best we can for as long as we can. At some point we won’t have a choice. Everything will be a chemcial concoction. Our grandchildren have been guaranteed a life of sickness and dependance on prescription drugs. I think that is really sad, but it appears that there is nothing we can do about it at this point. Our voices have meant nothing against the influence of Monsanto.
But their grandchildren will die too, unless they have some secret garden. I think ‘they know not what they do.’
For today, we lay down the political battle and enjoy some great food. Make it a point to eat the best foods available while you still can.
Monsanto Protection Bill Headed Towards a Budget Bill Near You

The congressional vendetta continues…
I thought this was done. But congress continues to hold the American public hostage while they attempt to shove through their last pet projects before leaving. And how does the Monstano Protection Bill keep getting attached to a budget bill?
A grass hut in Belize looks more attractive by the day.
I’d ask you to take action again – but I don’t think it matters to them one bit what we think. They are going to do what they want before they leave office. I guess they’ll show us, huh? Monsanto must be paying them a ton.
If you care to try anyway – here is the latest action alert – (the other one hasn’t shown up yet) http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=j4X87cQS5%2FUAiCtUjilajg3kUDan3Cy1

Backroom Deals & Food Safety
Last-Minute Washington Back-Room Dealing on Food Safety
December 14, 2010
We may have only one more chance to keep the dreadful so-called “food safety” language from becoming law through a legislative subterfuge. We have (quite literally!) up-to-the-minute information for you.
In the wake of the constitutional snafu over the Senate Food Bill, the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution (CR) that was supposed to fund the government temporarily but which contained a sneak insert of the Senate food safety bill. It now appears that (Continue reading ...)

We will need to publicize every Senator and Representative who takes part in this. So far it appears that they intend to pass whatever they want, no matter how loud the outcry has been from the people. We can only assume that they are being paid enormous amounts to totally disregard the wishes of the people who put them in office.
Setting Yourself Up To Succeed

One of the biggest stumbling blocks I hear about often is – “I have to clean the kitchen before I can cook.”
Is that you?
Is there so much clutter on the counters that there is no room to prepare anything?
Are so many dishes dirty that you don’t have any to use?
Not to mention how depressing that is…
I have a rule that I live by.
I cannot go to bed unless the dishes are done.
Sounds crazy, right?
Think about this – how much better will your day start if you walk into a clean kitchen in the morning? Isn’t that so much more positive?
When you get home, you can start to make a great meal without fighting the mess first.
It makes life so much easier.
The kitchen has always been the heart of the home. Is yours suffering?
A clean kitchen makes it easy to prepare great food.
A clean kitchen is a warm and natural gathering place.
A clean kitchen is the center of a healthy life.
It only takes a few minutes a day. Clean the dishes and wipe down the counters and stove every night. Make it a rule that it must be done before you are allowed to go to bed.
See how much it changes your life.
If you don’t already have it, you can find the rest of my secrets for keeping your house clean in minutes a day here >>>
Are you a party pooper?
Dieters are such a downer.
Always moaning – “I can’t eat that, I’m on a diet.”
“I shouldn’t eat this, I’m on a diet”, yada, yada yada.
I have a suggestion.
Eat well most of the time, and put your diet on hold when you go to parties. You’ll be a lot more fun to be around.
Now I’m not saying to devour everything in sight, but you can take reasonable servings of anything you want. Think moderation.
In the days leading up to the parties and the days after, stick with your good habits -
- Eat breakfast, and eat throughout the day. Don’t get yourself into the “I’m starving” mode.
- Eat your 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day.
- Drink enough water.
- Don’t drink pop.
- Keep alcohol to one drink a day.
- Eat real food.
- Get some exercise everyday.
- Get enough sleep.
If you live by these principles most of the time – your occassional bad days won’t throw you off track.
