Haiti spots wolves in sheep’s clothing

If Haiti can see a wolf in sheeps clothing, why can’t the U.S.?

Monsanto has pounced on the people of Haiti, attempting to spin a web of positive PR by donating 60,000 seed sacks to the impoverished and earthquake-devastated nation.

Fortunately, unlike in the United States where GM seeds are accepted with open arms, the Haitian people have spotted the wolf in sheep’s clothing that Monsanto really is.

Haitian Farmers Pledge to Burn Monsanto’s Seeds

Writing in the Huffington Post, Beverly Bell reported that Haitian peasant farmer leader Chavannes Jean-Baptiste of the Peasant Movement of Papay (MPP) called Monsanto’s “gift” of seeds “a new earthquake” and has committed to burning them.

Moody Teens? Their diet explains everything

Does your teen have major mood swings, or seems to be always depressed? This was in a recent article over at Yahoo,

“Teens eat diets with bad-mood foods including lots of sweets and starches. That does dramatic things to blood sugar levels that shoot up and down. It wrecks havoc with mood,” she said. (article here)

Think about it. Add to that the fact that they’re not getting the nutrients they need and hormones are swinging out of control and you have a mess on your hands.

As a parent, there are some things you can do to control the chaos and make life easier for all of you -

Do your best to get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables into them a day.

You know they’re going to be eating fast food when they’re out with their friends. Make sure they are getting fresh real foods at home.

Lead by example.

I’ve always made it a point to make it very clear to my daughter that a healthy diet is important, and why. We talk about corn syrup, fast foods, GMOs, and making the best food choices. I eat well, serve freshly made foods, get exercise, and you know – lead by example.

We’re not saints by any means. But when you eat healthy most of the time, the occasional splurge isn’t that bad.

Teaching your kids to eat healthy is one of the greatest things you can do as a parent.

There are 2 great gifts that you can give your children –  the gift of reduced risk of serious illness in their lifetime, and the gift of not being saddled with sick parents to take care of. And they’ll have the vibrant health, energy, and clear thinking they’ll need to be a success in this world.

What did your kids eat at school this year?

When I read articles like this, I am so grateful that my daughter chose to take her lunch. She always said school lunches were gross. Well, that is an understatement -

Dirty, contaminated beef fed to children through school lunch programs

You might think that you are saving money buying the cheap stuff, but in the long run – its going to cost you and your children a fortune in medical expenses.
