My Little Experiment
In a recent article on genetically Modified Foods they stated that given the choice, animals would not eat the genetically modified feed. So, I decided to try a little experiment.
My neighbor feeds the ducks feed corn. I happened to have a bag of corn in the freezer that I didn’t serve last Thanksgiving. My dad likes corn, but I made him live without it. And we won’t eat it. It just doesn’t taste good anymore. Now I think I understand why.
So, I took a handful of corn out and let it thaw.
How do I know the corn was genetically modified? Over 90% of the corn and corn products in the US are from genetically modified crops. This was a store brand, so the odds are pretty good that this was GMO corn, wouldn’t you say?
The ducks wouldn’t touch it.
Now the other question that brings to mind is if the animals know the difference, and apparently me and my daughter can taste the difference, why can’t anybody else taste the difference?
I found that the more time I spent away from fake and fast foods, the more I can taste the difference when I do have them. The last time I had the most popular tomato soup, I was horrified. It tasted like someone dumped a sugar bowl in it.
I even noticed that a bag of sugar tasted different. Sure enough – it used to be pure cane sugar. Now its from GMO sugar beets.
My sister tells me that she is experiencing the same thing. She’s been working her way to eating healthier for the last couple of years now. She agrees that when she has something that she hasn’t had in a while that she can taste the chemicals and corn syrup.
My neighbor tells me that on the rare occasion that she has soemthing packaged, that its so salty she can’t stand it. She can’t even drink a can of pop anymore. Neither can I.
It’s like your tastebuds return from the dead.
So login and find something really good to eat and wake those tastebuds up!

Trick Yourself Into Eating Healthy
Why does anyone do anything?
It’s either to increase pleasure, or avoid pain. That is scientifically proven. They teach this important fact in advertising school.
So, if you now know that is how your mind works, how can you use this knowledge to reach your goals?
For most of your life, healthy eating has been associated with pain. You think of eating food that tastes bad, right?
I can tell you til I turn blue standing on a stack of bibles that its not true – but its going to be a hard sell – isn’t it? You’re just not going to believe me until you try it for yourself – and that just may be a cold day in you know where.
But, if tomorrow you walk up the stairs and you’re short of breath and your heart is pounding out of your chest – now you might start thinking, “what did she say about eating healthier?”
Now the fear of pain is more real for you – and you want to avoid it. You don’t want to have a heart attack.
NOW you start thinking about all the things you read about all the toxins in foods, and fat and salt and sugar and, and, and. Your head is racing trying to find the answer to what to do to avoid having that heart attack – quick!
You may not have even really noticed that you don’t have the energy to play with your kids, or your grandkids.
You may not have realized that you’ve been letting things slip around the house because you just don’t feel up to it.
Oh sure, you know that you’ve gained weight, but hasn’t everyone? That’s normal, right? You don’t like it, but you’ve been led to believe that its too hard, even impossible to change that.
And your joints hurt, but you attribute that to just getting older.
Its not until you have that one moment that’s a real wake-up call to what’s coming that you really start to get serious.
What if there were a way to change your thinking before you have a terrifying event?
Now I don’t want you walking around thinking you’re going to have a heart attack or convinced that you’re going to get cancer. That way of thinking is not healthy either. Some scientists believe that you can actually bring on disease by thinking that way.
So what else can we do?
When I was growing up, a lot of the foods people eat now had a real stigma.
Only poor people ate ‘instant’ foods. Nobody would serve that nasty cheap stuff to their families, and certainly never, never to company.
Potato chips were what you got with your sandwich if your couldn’t afford fries.
Only kids drank pop. As you grew into an adult and had more refined tastes you drank coffee, iced tea, and alcohol. Even rum and coke was for ‘kids’. I’m not condoning drinking – that’s just the way it was.
And I don’t care how you package it, but drinking another animals body fluids always grossed me out. Especially thick fluids that make your mucus thicker. And now there’s all sort of chemicals, hormones, antibiotics and puss in it? No way I’m touching that! Yeah, I’m talking about milk.
Those kinds of thoughts have stuck with me to this day. But I’m finding that those thoughts aren’t strong enough for most people because they don’t connect with your experience. So I came up with a few thoughts that you can relate to.
Here are some Rebel Mind Tricks that will stick with you, and change the way you look at the food you’re about to eat.
The next time you go to eat something where the grease covers your fingers, or even drips down your hand – think of what that grease would look like in a frying pan on your stove in an hour. Picture that gooey mess. Is that what you want running through your body?
The next time you sit down to eat a really big chicken breast, ask yourself how in the world that chicken got breasts bigger than yours? How many growth hormones did that chicken have to eat to get boobs that big?
What do aching joints and wool sweaters have in common? Think about how an old wool sweater feels against your skin. How itchy and irritating it is. That’s what whole wheat and milk do to your joints, just irritating them to no end.
The next time you go to bite into a fake food, think of the veggie pets post and how far they are willing to go to mutate your foods. Appetizing, isn’t it?
Girls – we’ve all had that lazy boyfriend sitting on the couch with his feet on the coffee table, drinking a beer and wanting to know what you’re making for dinner. That fast food meal is just like him. It does nothing for you and completely drains you.
Now think about a cool refreshing glass of cranberry juice. Oh how good it feels as it removes plaque from your teeth and arteries, and rushes to sooth those irritated joints, and flush nasty toxins out of your kidneys.
Ever notice how broccoli kind of looks like pac-man? It acts like it too – chasing excess hormones and other toxins out of your system.
Like onions and garlic? My grandfather always used to say that if you ate onions and garlic, you’d never have cancer. My daughter had heard that so many times in her life, she’s even telling her friends.
Got a big meeting tomorrow? Picture yourself on top of your game. Now eat food that will provide you energy and clear thinking.
The next time you’re going to spend half a fortune on some miracle anti-again creams, think about buying a cantaloupe and getting enough sleep instead. You’ll be able to buy a new car with the money you save.
How about you? Can you come up with some mind tricks to share? Leave them in the comments!

FDA just doesn’t give up
I was looking through the Healthier Talk feed (inside the members area for your convenience), and they are attacking a Harvard Professor for saying that a nutrient helps reduce colds and flu. They are threatening him with criminal prosecution. A commenter on another post called the the Federal Death Administration. I got a chuckle out of that, but its a sad statement, don’t you think?
His real crime is that he is selling a supplement. You can talk about the health benefits all you want, as long as you don’t sell it. So I can talk about the health benefits of cranberries because I don’t sell cranberries, but the Cranberry Growers Association can’t.
Here’s an exerpt from the article -
“So, just how dangerous are supplements and natural remedies that has the FDA declaring war on your right to purchase natural alternatives?
You’re not going to believe this one.
There was not one death caused by dietary supplements in 2008. Not one.
A recent report in the journal Clinical Toxicology shows that there was not one death caused by any vitamin including A, B, C, D, and E.(2)
What’s more, there wasn’t one death caused by amino acids, herbals, homeopathics, or mineral supplements.
Not a single man, woman, or child died from nutritional supplements.
Yet nearly 125,000 people die each year from FDA-approved prescription drugs. That’s twice the number of casualties we suffered during the Vietnam War.
That’s a tragedy. And it’s a war that is happening every year.
In addition, prescription drugs cause 2.2 million adverse reactions each year.(3)
That’s not all.
Nearly five percent of all hospital admissions – more than 1 million per year – are due to drug side effects.”
The bad news is – the FDA is not protecting you. You have to protect yourself by being informed, and eating right. The good news is, its easy to do when you login
Make sure to check out the Healthier Talk news feed from time to time. Oh, don’t forget to scan the FDA recalls every time you login. Its important information.

FDA loses selenium censorship case
United States District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that the FDA cannot keep people from talking about scientific research that shows that selenium helps reduce the risk of cancer.
The Court ruled that the FDA is violating First Amendment Rights.
It’s just selenium so far. We still have cherries, walnuts, and a host of other scientifically proven healthy foods and nutrients that will help prevent the majority of so called ‘lifestyle’ diseases - but we’re moving in the right direction.
Wow. Imagine if everyone knew that they could be thin & healthy just by changing the way they eat
New Thin vs Old Thin
You’ve often heard that there’s a difference between ‘old money’ and ‘new money’. There’s a different way of thinking, acting, and living that people with ‘old money’ have. They have wisdom and confidence that the ‘new money’ people don’t have. They’re not out to prove anything like the ‘new money’ people are.
The same thing applies to people who have been thin most of their lives vs people who are newly thin. That doesn’t mean that the ‘old thin’ haven’t ever gained weight. Most of them have. They’ve had babies, and stress, and other problems just like anyone else. But because of their long held habits, they were able to get back to their former thin & healthy selves.
The ‘new thin’ on the other hand will try to sell you on some new fast diet, miracle food, pills, or other such nonsense. They get excited about their new results and they want to tell you about it, and that’s admirable. Unfortunately, the solutions rarely work long term. You’ll never know that because these people just disappear. Unless you’re Kirstie Alley…
The ‘old thin’ are not on the Internet telling you what works. To them, its the lifestyle they’ve always lived. It never occurs to them that they have the solution to your problem. They think everyone knows this stuff. They shake their heads when they see what people choose to eat. They just think that you’re fat and lazy.
They don’t understand that most people have not been taught how to live a thin & healthy lifestyle.
How many people today know how to cook a great meal from scratch?
Not too many.
One of my friends served Hamburger Helper once. Her husband forbids her to ever make it again. We’re serious about our food – Don’t give us that nasty garbage!
The problem is, most of the good cooks are getting older. You’d better learn now before we’re all dead!
Login and try some good old good food!
